      • We have proposed an architecture to coordinate the mobility protocols between IPv4 and IPv6. Besides, the implementation is constructed to prove the functionality and performance.

  • The two-tier heterogeneous MANET architecture
    • The low tier of the network consists of a set of mobile hosts each equipped with a IEEE 802.11 wireless LAN card.

  • Two-tier Authentication for Cluster and Individual Sets in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks
    • We have proposed a two-tier authentication scheme for cluster and individual sets in MANETs, providing fast message verification, group identification and secure user identification. The first tier provides fast message verification and group identification. The second tier provides secure user identification. The proposed two-tier authentication scheme can prevent internal and external attacks, including black holes, impersonation, routing table overflows and energy consummation attacks.

        • We introduce the secret sharing technology into MANET authentication. This scheme can be applied to multicast applications in MANETs. These results have been published in Journal of Computer Networks.

  • Mobility Supports using Mobile SCTP in 4G Heterogeneous All-IP Core Networks
    • We proposed a vertical handoff architecture to support mobility among heterogeneous access networks by employing mobile SCTP protocol. We utilized the multi-homing feature of SCTP to achieve the seamless handoff for next generation 4G systems.

        • Previous works selected an appropriate transmission path based on the signal strength, bandwidth or round trip time delay. Our work designs criteria to select the best transmission path by considering the bandwidth, round trip time delay and power consumption at the same time.

  • Network Mobility (NEMO) with Fast Mobile IP Support for Integrated WiMAX-WLAN Wireless Networks
    • We have designed and implemented mechanisms to support network mobility (NEMO) with fast mobile IP (FMIP) capability over next generation heterogeneous all-IP 4G systems.

        • Previous works considered the issues for NEMO and FMIP independently. The NEMO without FMIP layer-2 support usually suffers from significantly long delay, which is intolerable for real-time multimedia applications. Our work designs and implements mechanisms to integrate NEMO with FMIP and resolves the resultant tromboning routing.
