	2012 CUDA Programming Contest Award Ceremony 活動日期 2013 年 1月 24 日 09:00~12:00 舉辦地點清華大學資電館地演廳 The CUDA Programming Contest 2012 recevied 36 submissions, and top ten of them entered the stages of the competition, in which each team needs to execute their CUDA programs on the Formosa 5 cluster. In the award ceremony, each team needs to present their work, and demonstrates their programs. 	2012嵌入式處理器研討會資訊活動日期 2012年11月30日、12月7日及12月12日舉辦地點新竹科學園區展業一路2號新竹科學園區工業東二路1號-科技生活館隨著後PC時代的來臨，嵌入式系統(Embedded System)已成為現今不可或缺的科技要角。根據英國電機工程師協會的定義，嵌入式系統為控制、監視或輔助設備、機器或甚至是工廠運作的裝置。回顧嵌入式系統的出現，正是因為微處理器的發明而產生的技術，嵌入式透過結合電腦軟硬體的設計，加上通訊網路的應用，進而蓬勃發展，更成為下個世代的科技主流。嵌入式系統產品的應用層面相當廣大，舉凡目前生活中隨處可見的智慧型手機、平板電腦、GPS、影音多媒體產品、家電用品、車用電子裝置，甚至是生物/醫療電子等領域皆與其息息相關。為配合現今產業發展趨勢及需求，新竹科學園區管理局特別委託財團法人自強工業科學基金會於2012年11月30日、12月7日及12月 12日舉辦三場技術研討會，以「(一)嵌入式處理器發展大未來」、「(二)嵌入式技術新藍海策略」及「(三)觸控面板與材料元件之發展趨勢」三大議題作為主軸，力邀學界與業界菁英分享嵌入式技術領域的專業與未來發展趨勢，歡迎各界來賓與會聆聽！ http://edu.tcfst.org.tw/edm/01C373.htm

	GPU-Cloud Workshop in conjunction with the 4th International Conference on Cloud Computing (CloudCom) Date: Dec 3-6, 2012 Place: 台北圓山飯店 The Graphics Processing Units (GPU) are now considered as serious challengers for high-performance computing solutions because of its suitability for massively parallel processing and vector computations, especially in clouds. GPUs have been used to accelerate a wide range of applications such as bioinformatics, physics and chemistry, business forecasting and medical imaging applications etc., A special workshop dedicated to GPU structure, methods, algorithms, virtualization and applications in cloud computing environments will be hosted in conjunction with the the 4th International Conference on Cloud Computing technology and Science (CloudCom 2012). The primary goal of this workshop i s to provide a forum to discuss above general purpose GPU computing in clouds. We are calling papers which provide insights into current GPU practice and experience, and chart future directions in data-parallel processor technologies and applications. 	Student Cluster Competition in Supercomputing Conference 2012 Date: Nov 12-15, 2012 Place: Salt Lake City USA The team of National Tsing Hua University has been selected to the final round of the student cluster competition (SCC) held in conjunction with the 2012 Supercomputing Conference (SC). The machine prepared for SCC this year is an eight nodes cluster. Each node is a 2U server equipped with one M2090 GPU card, thanks to Nvidia's donation. The interconnection uses Mellanox InfiniBand FDR and 10-Gigabit Ethernet. The four HPC applications last year are CAM, QMCPack, LAMMPS, and PFLOTRAN. Among them only QMCPack and LAMMPS have CUDA versions. In particular, QMCPack shows excessive performance advantages of using GPU. Some of the video for 2012's final (1) (2).
